Fall 2008: Cross Country All-American for the second straight year. Had four top-10 cross country finishes in 2008 and three in the top five. Was the third Duck to cross the finish line running 29:43.4 for his second-straight ninth-place finish at the national championships and third career All-America award. Ran second behind teammate Galen Rupp to help Oregon win its third consecutive NCAA West Regional, crossing the line in 28:32.31. It was the best regional finish of his career. Took fifth at the Pac-10 championships, where he was the third Duck to cross the finish line (23:42.50) as Oregon won its third straight Pac-10 title. Helped lead the Ducks to the Bill Dellinger Invitational title with his fifth-place finish (24:14.41), and was the second Oregon runner across the line.

2007-08: All-American and Pac-10 Athlete of the Year in cross country. Claimed second career All-America honor by placing ninth (29:57) in his third NCAA trip. Was named the Pac-10 Athlete of the Year for winning his first Pac-10 title (22:55) and leading the Ducks to the team championship. Two weeks later, helped the Ducks repeat as the NCAA West Region champions with a third place finish (30:04). Minor injuries led to a quiet spring where he only ran the 5,000 meters twice - at the Cardinal Invitational and at the Pac-10 Championships. Earlier in outdoor season, ran an NCAA provisional mark in his 10,000 meter career debut at the Stanford Invitational (29:00.52). Did not compete indoors. In cross country, his sixth-place Pac-10 Championships finish helped Oregon win its 14th Pac-10 Championship.
