WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – Junior Nicole Canepa broke single-game career scoring highs in back-to-back games for Oregon, resulting in her first ever Pac-10 Player of the Week Award.

In the Ducks’ season opener, an 86-48 win over Eastern Washington last Monday, Canepa came off the bench and set a career high with 17 points, and posted the second double-double of her career with 10 rebounds. Canepa made her way to the free-throw line on 12 occasions, and knocked down nine of her attempts, both new career bests.

In Sunday’s 86-81 win at Montana, Canepa again was vital off the bench. The 6-foot-5 post scored a game-high tying and team-leading 18 points on 8-of-16 shooting, while also grabbing nine rebounds. It was another career scoring high for Canepa, who also scored six-points in the final 3:47 of the game, including the basket that gave the Ducks the lead for good.

This is Oregon’s 33rd Pac-10 Player of the Week Award, and first since Tamika Nurse received the honor on Feb. 5, 2007.

Oregon, which has opened the season 2-0, tips off at 7 p.m. against Santa Clara (1-2), on Tuesday at McArthur Court.

The Ducks will remain in Eugene the next two weeks, hosting the World Vision Invitational from Fri.-Sun., Nov. 27-29.

UP NEXT

The Ducks return to action for four home games this week. Oregon will host Santa Clara (1-2) at 7 p.m., Tuesday at McArthur Court.
Oregon fans that attend Monday’s men’s basketball game vs. Montana, can bring their ticket stub from that contest to Tuesday’s women’s game vs. Santa Clara on Tuesday, and receive free general admission.

Oregon will then host the World Vision Invitational from Friday-Sunday, Nov. 27-29. The three-day, six-game, round-robin tournament will include Cal State Fullerton, Wisconsin and Portland State. Fans will be able to purchase one ticket for each day, allowing admittance to both games on that afternoon.

PROMOTIONS
Oregon fans who attend the men’s basketball game vs. Montana on Monday, Nov. 23, can bring their ticket stub to the women’s game vs. Santa Clara on Tuesday, Nov. 24, and receive free general admission.
At the three-day, six-game World Vision Invitational, fans will be able to purchase one ticket for each day, and receive admission to both games that afternoon. For ticket information about the World Vision Invitational please click HERE.
BI-Mart will also be sponsoring 2-FOR-1 tickets each day of the tournament. Show you BI-Mart card at the ticket window to get two reserved tickets for the price of one.

WORLD VISION INVITATIONAL
The Oregon women’s basketball program is asking Duck fans to join “Operation Safety Net” during the World Vision Invitational from Friday-Sunday, Nov. 27-29, at McArthur Court.
During the round-robin tournament, which welcomes in Cal State Fullerton, Wisconsin and Portland State, Oregon will be partnering with World Vision to take donations for “Operation Safety Net,” which distributes treated mosquito nets worldwide.
Insecticide treated bed nets help prevent the spread of malaria, which is transmitted by a common mosquito that flourishes in more than 100 countries worldwide.  Just a $6 donation will purchase one treated bed net.
Malaria is the #4 killer of children under the age of 5 worldwide, as nearly 800,000 children die from malaria each year.
During the three-game tournament, World Vision will be on hand at McArthur Court to accept donations toward its cause. If you are unable to make it to the games, you can donate online at www.worldvision.org/endmalaria.
For more information about World Vision visit www.worldvision.org.
