The Pacific-10 Conference and ESPN announced in January 2009 that the 113th edition of the Civil War would be moved from a traditional Saturday schedule to Thursday, Dec. 3, to help accommodate the national show-case of the oldest football rivalry west of the Rocky Mountains.
Representatives have been meeting since the summer to address the unique challenges for businesses and residents surrounding the Autzen Stadium area, including traffic flow on Martin Luther King Blvd., and trans-porting spectators to and from the game on a weekday.
Game attendees may need to alter park-and-ride plans due to adjustments in staging locations
Because of LTD’s weekday commitments, they will be unable to provide the typical number of buses or park-and-ride locations to transport spectators to and from the game, which is scheduled to kickoff shortly after 6 p.m. To compensate for the alterations, Starline Luxury Coaches has been contracted to help coordinate the strategic plan, including the utilization of buses from seven different regional bus companies that will provide the 80 buses required to maintain the Sports Shuttles to and from Autzen Stadium. LTD is assisting with the training and on-site logistics of service provided by the alternative carriers.
Starline Luxury Coaches is a Seattle-based company that provides the management of shuttles to and from the University of Washington and Seattle Seahawks’ football games.
The number of sites that will serve as pick-up and drop-off locations for the Sports Shuttles will be reduced from 11 to six for the Thursday night game to avoid interruption of LTD’s regular service within the Eugene-Springfield area, however more buses will be available per location than for Oregon’s previous six home football games this season.
Those regular park-and-ride locations available for the Dec. 3 contest are the Eugene Fairgrounds, Symantec, Valley River Center, Valley River Inn and Willamette between 10th and 11th. In addition, a new location has been added for this game only at the Eugene Christian Fellowship on Game Farm Road.
Round trip fares from all locations will be $3 per person (exact change required) – a reduction from $5 per per-son at some locations for the first six games – while previously purchased season shuttle passes also will be honored.
Shuttle service to Autzen Stadium will begin four hours prior to the 6 p.m. kickoff, while return trips to parking locations will be available at halftime and continue for one hour following the game’s conclusion.
Buses with chair lifts to accommodate handicapped riders will service all park-and-ride locations.

Customers and patients visiting businesses in the complex are reminded that the intersection at Club Road, MLK Blvd. and Centennial Loop will be closed at noon. All visitors and football fans arriving from Coburg Road and Club Road should proceed East on MLK Blvd and turn left onto Centennial Loop at Kowloons with the assistance of the Eugene Police Department to cross oncoming traffic.
