Spring Practice and Newcomers
Monday, March 29, 4:00 p.m. PDT
It’s been less than 90 days since Oregon played in the Rose Bowl, and while that may have seemed like an eternity to some, football thankfully resumes for the Ducks on Tuesday morning inside the Moshofsky Center.
Spring practice begins in earnest tomorrow at 8:45 a.m. – the first of 15 workouts – and concludes with the annual Spring Game on Saturday, May 1, at Autzen Stadium.
Joining the returners for their first go-round in UO practice gear are junior college transfers Ryan Clanton, Isaac Remington and Brandon Williams, three players that have been enrolled since January. In addition, a trio of prep players and one 1-AA transfer are expected to be on hand after starting classes today.
As expected, defensive backs Dior Mathis (Detroit, Mich./Cass Tech HS), Terrance Mitchell (Sacramento, Calif./Luther Burbank HS) and James Scales (Greensboro, N.C./Northern Guilford HS) all graduated early from high school and are poised to get a head start on the other incoming freshmen by participating in spring drills.
Another newcomer on defense is defensive end Steve Adams (Medford, Ore./South Medford HS), a transfer from Portland State. Adams did not play for the Vikings as a true freshman and is expected to have four years of remaining eligibility.
Most spring practice sessions will run from 8:45 to 10:55 a.m. in the Mo Center, but the Kilkenny grass fields and Autzen Stadium remain possibilities, depending on the weather. The first week of spring ball will also feature practices on Thursday and Saturday, while workouts during weeks two through four will be held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Practices during week five will be Monday, Wednesday and Saturday (Spring Game).
