INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Oregon men’s golf team has been named the top seed in the 30-team field for the 2010 NCAA Men’s Golf Championships, June 1-6 at The Honors Course in Chattanooga, Tenn.

The No. 1 Ducks, fresh off a victory at the NCAA Southwest Regional in Santee, Calif., open the national tourney on Tuesday, June 1, with a 12:12 p.m. ET tee time. There will be 54 holes of stroke play over the first three days to crown an individual champion and provide a cut to eight teams.  Those eight, seeded by their finish in the medal format, will play single-elimination match play over the following three days to determine the national champion.

Oregon is one of four Pac-10 schools among the top 10 seeds along with No. 2 Stanford, No. 4 Washington and No. 8 USC.

The Ducks are making their third consecutive appearance at the NCAA Championships, a feat accomplished only once before in school history when UO made four straight trips between 1975-78.
