Walker's Pace: Eyes of Texas are on Oregon
Wednesday, May 26, 2010, 6:30 p.m.
The Oregon track and field teams went through a light workout at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas, as they prepare for the NCAA West Regional, which gets underway Thursday at 10 a.m. PDT with the men's javelin.
We'll have a live blog on goducks.com tomorrow. In the meantime, at the bottom are a few images from Austin.
Some notes to pass along:
* There is a slight change in the schedule for the 10,000 meters Thursday night. Both events have been pushed back by 30 minutes in an effort to run the race in slightly cooler temperatures. The men's 10K will now begin at 9 p.m. Central, with the women's race going off at 9:45 p.m.
* Brianne Theisen and Ashton Eaton are featured in the "Faces in the Crowd" section of the latest issue of Sports Illustrated (the one with the World Cup on the cover).
* Upon arriving in Texas, Oregon was momentarily held on its plane by the Secret Service at the Austin airport as former First Lady Laura Bush borded a private jet and departed.
Pole vaulters Melissa Gergel, Jordan Roskelley and Colin Witter-Tilton get some work in at the stadium.
