LaMichael is a Preseason alLaMerica
Sunday, August 15, 8:15 p.m. PDT

The Ducks, now less than three weeks away from the opening game of the 2010 season, enjoyed their first off day of the preseason on Sunday. The respite won't last long as the squad returns with a two-a-day session on Monday, which will mark practices Nos. 8 and 9 of camp.

JAMES NAMED PRESEASON ALL-AMERICA
Add Yahoo! Sports to the list of websites that also produce a printed college football preview magazine. In the periodical, LaMichael James joins last year's Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram as a Rivals.com first-team All-America at the running back position.

DUCKS IN THE PROS
Saturday marked another big night for Oregon football alums playing in NFL preseason games. Dennis Dixon, currently stuck behind veteran Byron Leftwich on Pittsburgh's depth chart, made a case for the starting spot by leading the Steelers to a 23-7 victory over Detroit. Dixon was nearly flawless, completing 6 of 7 passes for 128 yards, including a 68-yard touchdown. He also rushed six times for 31 yards ... Will Tukuafu, signed earlier in the week by San Francisco, made the most of his preseason debut by making two solo stops including a sack in the 49ers win over Indianapolis ... T.J. Ward had a game-high six solo tackles in Cleveland's victory against Green Bay. The rookie safety is prepping for a starting role with the Browns ... In a battle of NFL rookies, Walter Thurmond III's Seattle Seahawks downed LeGarrette Blount's Tennessee Titans at Seahawk Stadium. Thurmond led the 'Hawks with four solo tackles and LG scored a late touchdown to make the game close.
