Lanie Thompson: Sunriver Turns to South Bend
Monday, September 27, 2010, 3:45 p.m.
Well, the men's and women's cross country teams are now back in Eugene. The school year is upon so we've been enjoying every last minute of the summer while attempting to get back into the swing of things here in Eugene. Usually school starting back up again proves to be a challenging adjustment for everyone, but luckily for us, once classes start, so does an action packed cross-country season.
We're already gearing up for our trip to South Bend, Ind., for the race at Notre Dame. Fortunately, we've had a successful three weeks at camp in Sunriver so we will be going to Notre Dame confident and ready to race! The first race for any team is always a great starting point because we know that regardless of where we are at, there is always room for improvement.
I once read a quote by Henry Ford that read, "Coming together is a beginning. Staying together is progress. Working together is success." Our team "came together" at Sunriver. We've also "stayed together" by becoming closer as a team as our time at camp passed. Throughout all of this, we have been "working together." If we can continue to come together, stay together, and work together, we truly will be a successful team!
Thanks for tuning in Duck Fans!
It's not all running at Sunriver. Those dreaded medicine ball work-outs can be quite challenging. And the "pillars" is a killer ab test.
