An Update from Senior Duncan "Diesel" MacDonald-Korth
Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011
Hello all, Duncan MacDonald-Korth checking in here.
The
dual season has gotten off to a rip-roaring start and we are 4-0 and
playing great. We have won each of our first 4 match 6-1, including a
big win over Pacific (who should be ranked highly this season) this past
Sunday.
All of the guys have been playing great, particularly
everyone’s favorite Oregonian, Alex Rovello. He dismantled Pacific’s
Ivan Castro at No. 1 singles, an opponent who only the day before had
handled Boise State’s No. 83 ranked Pogotskin, in straight sets.
Baptiste Faynot also rebounded very well from Friday’s match defeating a
formerly ranked opponent and defending Big West Player of the Year,
Artem Gramma, in straight sets. I was fortunate enough to be in a
position to clinch the match, sealing the 6-1 victory.
The mood
of the team is high and we are feeling very confident. We have two big
matches this weekend, against Idaho at 1 pm on Friday and against Weber
State at 9 am on Saturday. If we win this upcoming weekend, we should
enjoy our first ranking of the year when the polls come out next week.
So don’t miss your chance to come see your Oregon Ducks soar into the
rankings this weekend!
Also, as a side note I would like to thank
the Athletic Department and all donors for allowing us to have such
great facilities. We just recently moved into the former men’s
basketball locker room in Mac Court and feel very lucky to have such a
nice space to ourselves. On behalf of all of us on the team I want to
say thanks to the entire University of Oregon community.
See you this weekend. Go Ducks!!!!!
