As was anticipated a few weeks back, Oregon football players Kenjon Barner, LaMichael James and Dior Mathis will make their 2011 indoor track debuts this weekend at the Flotrack Husky Classic in Seattle.
Wednesday, February 9, 2:30 p.m. PT
The Duck trio will take part in the 60-meter dash, which is scheduled to get underway around 10 a.m. on Saturday at Dempsey Indoor on the University of Washington campus.
James also ran at the Husky Classic in 2010, posting a PR of 6.77 seconds - the fourth-fastest mark in the event in UO history.
Fellow redshirt sophomore Barner will be making his first appearance indoors for the Ducks after competing as a member of the 2010 Pac-10 outdoor track & field championship team. The shifty running back had never run track prior to last year.
Mathis, who redshirted in track last spring and football this past fall, will take part in his first official collegiate competition. While prepping at Detroit's Cass Tech, Mathis won the Michigan state indoor championship in the 60 meters, where he ran a qualifying time of 6.88 seconds. He bettered that mark with a 6.87 in winning the "Football 60" exhibition at the 2010 Oregon Twilight track meet.
