EUGENE, Ore. -- The top-ranked Oklahoma State men's golf program held off an early final-round surge from host Oregon to win the 2011 Duck Invitational by eight strokes, while Washington's Chris Williams finished with back-to-back birdies to take medalist honors on Tuesday at Eugene Country Club.

The Cowboys, who went 10-under in the third round, posted a 16-under 848 at the annual 54-hole event, sweeping past the defending champion Ducks, who were the only other team under par at 6-under 856.

Washington, led by Williams' 9-under 207, placed third, followed by Oregon State (878) and New Mexico State (879), rounding out the top five in the 15-team field.

Rice's Michael Whitehead and Oregon State's Alex Moore tied for second among individuals at 7-under 209. Whitehead was the clubhouse leader with Williams still on the course before the Husky went par-birdie-birdie to claim the title.

Jack Dukeminier (72-70-68-210) paced the runner-up Ducks with the squad's low round on Tuesday and finished fourth overall at 6-under. UO's No. 1 and defending medalist Daniel Miernicki (71-72-72-215) tied for 13th at 1-under, while true freshman Ben Itterman (72-71-73-216) made the most of his home debut by tying for 16th at even par.

Eugene Wong (74-71-72-217) also posted a top 20 finish after bouncing back from a first-round 74, moving up to a tie for 19th. Andrew Vijarro (74-75-71-220) had the team's second-lowest final-round score with a 71.

Oregon's Robbie Ziegler (73-66-74-213) had the best tournament among players entered as individuals, tying for tenth at 3-under. Jack Paton (70-71-75-216), another of UO's six individuals, tied for 16th, and Sean Maekawa (71-74-73-218) tied for 23rd.

Next up for Oregon will be the OGIO Santa Barbara Invite starting Monday, March 28.
