Plenty of Preseason Honors

The calendar indicates that we are officially past the midpoint of 2011, which means college football's most enjoyable season - football season - is nearly upon us. In two months and two days, Oregon will play LSU in the sold-out Cowboys Classic in Arlington, Texas, and both teams will take the field with a top-five ranking attached to their names. Based on a consensus of the most respected/accepted annual preseason magazines, the Ducks are No. 3 and the Tigers are tied for fourth.

Based on those rankings, LSU will almost certainly represent UO's highest-ranked opponent in a season opener away from home when the Associated Press releases its preseason top 25 in August. But the Ducks will also likely be sporting their highest ranking to start a season, and with that comes lots of individual accolades.

The following is a list of the top preseason honors as of July 1. Watch lists for all the major awards will be released between July 5 and 18, so expect a few more honors-related posts in the near future.
