SEATTLE, WASH. - The University of Oregon men's tennis program continues to move through the Northwest ITA Regional tournament bracket advancing in both the doubles and singles main draws.  Led by sophomore Alex Rovello, the Ducks now have two different doubles teams in the final eight as well as Rovello in the quarterfinal round of singles action.

"For us to have the two doubles in the final eight is fantastic," remarked men's tennis head coach Nils Schyllander.  "I felt like today we played very aggressive, especially in doubles.  It's a lot of fun to see us play exactly how we'd been practicing and see that come to fruition."

Rovello took down Max Manthou of Washington 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 in the round of 16.  The Portland, Ore. native will play again tonight (Oct. 23) against No. 3 seeded Carlos Cueto of Cal.

"He showed his maturity as a tennis player today," said coach Schyllander.  "He was offensive when he needed to be and took another huge step in the right direction."

In doubles action, the Ducks made tremendous strides as an overall team.  The duo of Jose Izquierdo and Rovello defeated the Stanford combination of Kandath/Lin 8-6.  Izquierdo and Rovello will continue on in the main doubles draw on Monday (Oct. 24) where they will face the Cal tandem of Cueto/McLachlan.  It will be the first of two matches on the day where Rovello and Cueto will go toe to toe in the tournament.

Oregon junior Jeff Mullen teamed with sophomore Robin Cambier were victorious in their round of 16 match up against Kamisar/Stith of Washington 8-2.  The fifth seeded Oregon duo will next face the No. 2 seeded Stanford team of Morrissey/Thacher on Monday (Oct. 24).  Thacher is the No. 1 overall seeded men's singles player.

Results for Rovello's quarterfinal match will be made available tomorrow morning (Oct. 24).
