OHEROES sits down with one of our student-athletes to get to know more about them on and
off of the field. This week we feature Michael Clay, a 5'11" junior linebacker on the
Oregon football team, whose determination and dedication to athletics, academics and
philanthropic work makes him a stand-out member of the O Heroes team.
Most recently, Clay has focused his work with the community in two main areas: mentoring two 5th graders at McCornack Elementary School with his friend and fellow teammate Grant Thompson, and spending time playing games, tutoring and mentoring youth at the Boys and Girls Club (BGC) of Eugene. He said his favorite O Heroes events thus far in this three years at Oregon was doing the Polar Plunge (a benefit of Special Olympics Oregon) and his time at the BGC Eugene.
Clay is a Family and Human Services (FHS) major at the University of Oregon and one day aspires to use his experience with FHS and with O Heroes to start a scholarship foundation for youth aspiring to enroll in private schooling.
