WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - The University of Oregon women's tennis team placed five Ducks on the Pac-12 All-Academic conference teams and the men's tennis program placed three on the team as announced by Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott on Thursday (June 7).
Sophomore Rabea Stueckemann headlined the list for the Ducks making the All-Academic First Team with a 4.13 GPA in Journalism. Stueckemann's excellence off the court was supported by her combined 17 wins in both singles and doubles play. The Hamm, Germany-native set a new career high for doubles wins in a season with nine.
Leading the way for the Oregon men was junior Aaron Clissold
whose 3.31 GPA in General Social Science landed him on the All-Academic Second
Team. The New South Wales,
Australia-native supplemented his off-court academic success with a 15-10
singles record during the 2011-12 season. Clissold also claimed a career high in doubles
wins in a season with 20. Jose Izquierdo also joined Clissold on the second team. Izquierdo recorded a 3.21 in Architecture.
Also named to academic All-Conference honors was sophomore Robin Cambier whose in-classroom work merited a Honorable Mention selection.
For a student athlete to be eligible for selection they must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade point average and be a significant contributor.
