DURHAM, N.C. – Brett Hambright had two hits and Jake Reed and Tommy Thorpe both contributed in relief as the Stars defeated the Stripes, 15-3, in Game 2 of USA Baseball's Prospect Classic at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

Oregon's departing senior catcher was 2 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI in his first start as a member of the Collegiate National Team.

Reed, an alternate on the squad, allowed two runs on six hits in 2 1/3 innings, but earned the win.

Fellow UO freshman Tommy Thorpe pitched a scoreless inning, striking out two and walking one. The southpaw is also an alternate on the team.

Oregon head coach George Horton is making his debut with the Collegiate National Team, serving as an assistant for head coach Dave Serrano. Undergraduate assistant coach and former UO backstop Mitch Karraker is also on the staff, serving as the bullpen coach.

The Collegiate National Team’s schedule plays through July 22 as the club will travel to The Netherlands to play in Honkbal-Haarlem Baseball Week. The CNT will compete against Japan, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Chinese Taipei and The Netherlands during the series.
