EUGENE - Wrapping its final week of the preseason, the No. 20-ranked University of Oregon volleyball teams will again showcase its talented squad in a free exhibition Saturday night.
Taking on a squad of recent Duck alumni, UO will continue to blend its highly-regarded six-person newcomer class with a rotation that features some of its greatest players.
Action begins at 7 p.m. at Matthew Knight Arena, and fans have a special opportunity for free parking starting at 5:30 p.m. in the garage accessible via Columbia Street.
After the best-of-five-set affair, Duck faithful will get their first chance of the season for autographs from Oregon players and coaches.
A host of special promotions and prize packages will also be on tap, including a contest to identify famous alumni.
Also starting Friday, spectators can order new season ticket packages and individual match tickets via the ticket link at the top of the www.GoDucks.com website.
Fans can also buy season tickets in person at the match or visit the Duck ticket office or call (1-800-WEB-FOOT) during normal weekday business hours.
In upcoming weeks, Oregon opens its regular season on the road at a pair of tournaments in Columbus, Ohio (Aug. 24-25) and Athens, Ohio (Aug. 31-Sept. 2) that feature No. 24 Ohio State and No. 13 Kentucky, respectively.
Next month, the Ducks kick off their 12-match home schedule with a pair of non-conference tilts vs. UC Santa Barbara (Wed., September 5) and St. Mary's (Mon., Sept. 10). Both teams sported top-55 RPI national ratings and impressive records last year - UC Santa Barbara (#53, 19-12) and St. Mary's (#55, 17-12).
The remainder of UO's home schedule - all league contests - includes last year's national champion (UCLA), two more NCAA second-round qualifiers (Stanford, Washington), and two other postseason first-round advancers (Arizona, California).
