Three doubles teams competed for Oregon today. In the round of 64, Aaron Clissold and Daniel Sardu teamed up to defeat Sacramento’s Oliver Anderson and Roy Brandys 8-1. Rovello and Daan Maasland won their match against San Francisco’s Jonathan Knowlman and Nils Skaa 8-6. Chin and Michael Schaeffer unfortunately dropped their match to Fresno State’s Jeremy Quiroz and Kartik 8-6.
In the doubles round of 32, the top-seeded duo of Mullen and Cambier easily won their match against Gonzaga’s Jack Schoebel and Oliver Jamin 8-1. Oregon’s other two doubles teams did not fare as well, however, as Clissold and Sardu fell to Washington’s third-seeded duo of Kyle McMorrow and Marton Bots 9-7, while Rovello and Maasland lost a close one to Stanford’s fourth-seeded duo of John Morrissey and Trey Strobell.
“We competed really hard again and played some pretty good doubles matches,” said head coach Nils Schyllander. “We won some close matches and lost some close matches. I like the way we’re playing right now. We’re in position to make a good tournament very good if we go after it tomorrow again.”
