PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Senior running back Kenjon Barner and sophomore all-purpose standout De’Anthony Thomas are two of the 16 players selected as semifinalists for the 76th Maxwell Award, given to the collegiate football player of the year as chosen by the Maxwell Football Club national selection committee.

Only USC also had two players selected as semifinalists among the top 16 candidates for the award other than Oregon as quarterback Matt Barkley and wide receiver Marqise Lee were joined by Barner, Thomas and UCLA running back Jonathan Franklin as the only standouts chosen to represent the Pac-12 Conference.

Three finalists for the award will be announced on Nov. 19 while the winner of the Maxwell Award will be revealed as part of the Home Depot College Football Awards Show, which will air on Dec. 6 on ESPN.

Barner has rushed for 974 yards and scored 15 touchdowns to rank 10th in the country in rushing and tie for 10th in scoring.

Thomas leads the Ducks in receiving with 24 catches and ranks third nationally in punt returns (18.3 avg.) while accounting for 11 touchdowns.
