Oregon Head Coach Dana Altman

On Johnny Loyd’s performance tonight…
“I feel good for Johnny. I can never fault his effort. It’s been documented that we’re not the same team without Dominic Artis, but Johnny’s offensive and defensive intensity was the difference in tonight’s game. Nobody cares more about this team than Johnny.”

On Johnny Loyd’s defensive effort…
“I don’t care what level of basketball it is, the point guard is the spot. It’s the quarterback of the team. He set a great tone of defense and offense tonight. He’s given us great energy on defense throughout the season. When you’re struggling offensively, some guys will let down.  Johnny has been struggling offensively but kept us engaged defensively in the game. He had a tremendous performance tonight.”

On the key to winning the second half…
“We didn’t give them easy baskets. Our defense has been solid for a long time. The two games where Johnny Loyd has hit shots, we’ve won both games by double figures. He set a great offensive tone.”

On his 600th career win…
“It makes me think of how many good players I have been able to coach. I’ve been doing this for 33 years. It makes you stop and think about how fortunate you are to coach so many great players. Also, it means that I’m getting old.”

Looking ahead to playing Oregon State…
“We have our work cut out for us. I want our guys to focus on what’s ahead, not what’s behind us, and get ready to play.”

Junior Guard Johnathan Loyd

On the game…
“Anytime the team presses us, my eyes just light up. There’s so much space on the court so I can just weave in and out and give it to the guys.”

On playing…
“It felt great tonight. I needed it. My teammates had faith in me. They kept telling me they believed in me so I just stepped up.”

On playing Stanford again…
“Anytime you get blown out by 25, there’s always going to be payback. I think that was in the back of everyone’s mind.”

On Coach Altman’s 600th win…
“He doesn’t talk about that stuff. Now that he got it, I’m happy for him. He works hard and deserves it.”

Senior Center Tony Woods

On teammate Johnathan Loyd’s performance…
“It’s great and gets us going. John is a leader for us and he really stepped it up tonight.”

On winning after Thursday’s lost…
“That’s great for us because it gives us that confidence that we need to continue. We have three left so that was great for us to bounce back in the way that we did. We looked like the Ducks we’ve been playing like all year tonight so it felt good.”

On the team’s performance…
“We’re just a better team when we attack the basket and we did that a lot tonight.”
