POUGHKEEPSKIE, N.Y. -- The Oregon Ducks lost a 9-5 match to Marist on Sunday afternoon in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

For the Ducks (4-4), it was their third consecutive loss. Marist improved to 3-7 with the win.

Neither team managed to score a goal through the first 20 minutes of the game.  But Marist's Ashley Miller broke the scoreless tie at the 8:55 mark to give her team a 1-0 lead.

Four minutes later, Olivia Pyne put the Ducks on the board with an unassisted goal to tie the match.

But Marist scored two goals before the end of the half and took a 3-1 advantage into the break.

In the second, freshman Carly O'Connell took a pass from Shannon Propst and scored a goal to make it a 3-2 game, but Marist went on a 2-0 run thanks to goals by Miller and Amanda Tuck to push its lead to three, 5-2, with 19:13 to play.

Oregon could not draw closer than two goals the rest of the way.

Senior Kate Cathell scored a goal with 15:24 left to cut the deficit to two (5-3) but a 4-1 Marist run put the game out of reach.

O'Connell led the Ducks with two goals and Propst followed with one goal and one assist.  Cathell and Pyne were the only other goal-scorers for Oregon.

Marist won the draw control battle, 10-6, despite being out-shot by the Ducks, 18-16.  Salliebeth Finnegan made three saves and took the loss in goal for Oregon.

Oregon will take the field again on Tuesday (March 26) at Connecticut.  Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
