Ducks Compete at West Coast Invitational

SALEM, Ore. – While the majority of the track and field teams competed at the Pac-12 Championships, a handful of potential NCAA West competitors were in action at the West Coast Invitational on Saturday at Willamette University.

Freshmen Chris Brewer and Ryan Pickering both set personal bests in the distances. Brewer, from San Diego, Calif., was third in his heat of the 1,500 meters in 3:44.18, while Pickering took third in the 5,000 in 14:19.49.

Freshman Trent Warren won the second section of the 1,500 in 3:52.13.

In the field, junior Tanner Harris won the hammer with a throw of 185-6/56.53m and freshman Ryan Hunter-Simms took the discus with an effort of 166-1/50.61m.

Chris Stubbs, a senior from Eugene, was a double winner in the men’s 200 (21.96) and 400 (47.92).
