EUGENE, Ore. -- O Heroes announced it will host the 16th annual Quackin’ Action community service event on Sunday, May 19, at the Moshofsky Center in Eugene. The event is scheduled to run from 2-4 p.m.
UO student-athletes from a variety of different sports will promote values on “How to Be a Good Duck” with approximately 300 K-5 elementary school students from the Springfield school districts.
"Our student-athletes look forward to this event every year," O Heroes program director Judy Sheldon said. "It's great that we can work with so many student-athletes and students from the community at once. Plus it is a great opportunity for the student-athletes to apply their leadership and organizational skills."
In its 16th year, Quackin’ Action is the athletic department’s longest running annual community outreach event.
The student-athletes will host five work stations which focus on the following: nutrition, safety (with the help of the Eugene Fire Department), fitness, sportsmanship and teamwork. The stations are full of games and activities that the UO student-athletes prepare, organize and execute.
To conclude the event, the student-athletes will have an autograph signing session. The participating youth will also receive a free child-sized smoothie compliments of the Eugene Ben and Jerry's.
