Each week O Heroes sits down with one of our student-athletes to get to know more about them on and off the field. This week’s feature is on Kailee Cuico, a junior on the Oregon Softball team.
Cuico strives to make her family of nine proud through her commitment to athletics, academics and service. Her driven attitude and teamwork initiatives make Cuico a remarkable O Hero in the Eugene and Springfield community.
While balancing the demanding schedule of a student-athlete, Cuico finds time to give back. Most recently, she played in the Special Olympics Bowling event, volunteered with the School for the Deaf and participated in her team’s Showtime talent show performance.
This summer, Cuico will travel to Peru on a service trip with fellow student-athletes and athletic department staff. In Peru, Cuico will help build a new sports court for the local village.
Cuico's passion for giving back is not only an inspiration to community members, but to fellow student-athletes who she inspires to get involved. The impact she has on others is motivating and makes her an outstanding O Heroes representative.
After graduating with an undergraduate degree in General Social Science with a focus in Crime, Law and Society, Cuico hopes to enroll in the police academy, or help coach.
