WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – After an amazing season on the field, the University of Oregon softball team also shined in the classroom as the conference announced its annual Pac-12 All-Academic Teams Friday.

Junior catcher/DP Alexa Peterson picked up her second straight Academic All-Pac-12 Second-Team honor after receiving Capital One Academic All-America First-Team honors last week.

The Salem, Ore., native and communication disorders and sciences major sports a 3.41 cumulative GPA, and was also an NFCA First-Team All-America choice this week.

Five other Ducks were first-time honorable mentions in Friday’s announcement - junior Courtney Ceo, sophomores Sara Goodrum, Karissa Hovinga and Janie Takeda and redshirt freshman Alyssa Gillespie.

Washington sported the most honorees (10) among the three squads Friday, followed by Stanford (8), Oregon (6), Utah (5), Arizona State (4), Oregon State (4), California (3), UCLA (2) and Arizona (1).

Since 1991, the Ducks have claimed 44 Academic All-Pac-12 First- and Second-Team honors, including four in the four-year tenure of head coach Mike White.

To be eligible for the award, players must be returning players that are at least a sophomore academically, maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, and be a starter or played at least half of the team’s competitions.
