EUGENE, Ore. – Registration for the 2013 University of Oregon track and field and cross country camps at Historic Hayward Field is set to close soon, and a handful of spots remain available.
Campers will have the opportunity to be instructed by Oregon’s national championship coaching staff, as well as many current student-athletes and well-known alumni.
The distance camp runs from June 24-29, where the focus will be on the longer running events. This is the third consecutive year the distance program has been offered. Campers will be able to celebrate the rich heritage of running at Oregon, whose Men and Women have won a combined eight NCAA titles in cross country, including the Women of Oregon who won their first cross country national championship in 25 years last fall.
All disciplines – sprints, distance, hurdles, jumps, throws, pole vault – will be taught at the track and cross country camp that runs June 26-29. Instruction will include training techniques, nutrition, Plyometrics and competition strategies. Sessions are often staged in small groups to encourage personal attention and plenty of feedback for all ages and ability levels.
The mix of counselors is balanced between experienced college and high school coaches, and college athletes to encourage a variety of fun and interactive learning opportunities.
The Oregon Track & Field Camp is open to boys & girls ages 14-19. Overnight accommodations are available for both camps.
The distance camp costs $575 for day campers and $750 for overnight campers. The track and field/cross country camp runs $350 for day campers and $500 for overnight campers.
To sign up, call the track office at 541-346-5698 or email the camp director at firstname.lastname@example.org.
