EUGENE, Ore. – The University of Oregon men’s tennis team has released the schedule for the 2013-14 fall and spring seasons, head coach Nils Schyllander and associate head coach Jonas Pilbor announced Wednesday. The Ducks will compete in four events this fall and open the season on Oct. 4-6.

“This year’s schedule will definitely propose a challenge, but with our returning chaps and incoming talent, we look forward to it,” said Schyllander. “Early in the season, we have some big matches in Eugene and we need to establish control of our home court to lead us into the conference season.”

Schyllander returns five letterwinners from last year’s team that posted a 16-8 record, and welcomes four newcomers into the fold; two incoming freshman and two transfer student-athletes.

The Ducks open the fall slate with the three-day UC Davis Aggie Invitational in Davis, Calif., from Oct. 4-6. Schyllander and the Ducks play for a final time in the month of October at the ITA Regionals in Berkeley, Calif., on Oct. 18-22.

Oregon will then travel to Las Vegas, Nev., for the Easley Memorial, a three-day tournament from Nov. 1-3. The Ducks close the fall season with the Nordstrom Open in Seattle, Wash., Nov. 15-18.

The Ducks open the spring dual season on Jan. 17 with a double-header against Portland State and Eastern Washington at the Oregon Student Tennis Center, followed by hosting UCSB on Jan. 20. Oregon will then meet either North Carolina or San Diego State in a neutral game hosted by Duke in Durham, N.C. on Jan. 24-26.

Oregon returns to the UO Student Tennis Center, hosting Fresno State in a two-game series (Jan. 31 and Feb. 2). The Ducks travel to Albuquerque, N.M., for duals with Pacific (Feb. 8) and New Mexico (Feb. 9) before returning to tournament play with the ITA National Indoors in Houston, Texas, Feb. 14-16.

The Ducks then open a five game home-stand, hosting UNLV (Feb. 23), Washington (Feb. 28), Boise State (March 2), Montana (March 7) and Seattle (March 7).  Schyllander’s squad travels to Portland, Ore., next for a 2 p.m. dual with the Portland Pilots on March 9.

Oregon will play the next five games from within the comforts of the UO Student Tennis Center with Hawai’i (March 26), USC (March 28), UCLA (March 29), Utah (April 4) and Arizona (April 6) traveling to Eugene.

The remainder of the regular season will played away from home for the Ducks, beginning with a nonconference game on April 9 at Santa Clara. The Ducks will then meet California (April 11), Stanford (April 12) and Washington (April 19) on the road.

The Pac-12 Championships are April 23-27 in Ojai, Calif.

The NCAA Championships will be held in Athens, Ga., beginning with the NCAA Team Championships May 16-20. The NCAA Indvidual Championships begin the following day, May 21-26.

The Ducks will be led by a trio of players who won at least 19 singles matches last season; Daan Maasland (23-9), Robin Cambier (22-11) and Daniel Sardu (19-7). Additionally, Brent Chin, Michael Schaeffer and Sam Bush provide returning experience. Schyllander will welcome two incoming freshman to the lineup -- Jayson Amos (Mission Viejo, Calif.) and Alex Marcinkowski (Spokane, Wash.)-- and two transfers; Kevin Farin (University of Brussels) and Joey Swaysland (Texas).
