EAST LANSING, Mich.  -- The University of Oregon women’s golf team opened the fall season strong, carding two quality rounds at the Mary Fossum Invitational on Saturday. The Ducks sit in fourth place in the 15-team field after carding a 36-hole score of 602 (+26) at the Forest Akers West Golf Course.

With four players in the top-20 of the leaderboard, Oregon is just two strokes back of third place Notre Dame (600) and 10 strokes behind Ohio State (592). Michigan State, the tournament host, carded a 584 (+8) to lead the field.

The Ducks shot a 303 (+15) in the morning round before shooting a 299 (+11) in the afternoon, the third best second round in the field.

"Considering it is our first exposure to this course, and the first time in Michigan for many of our players, we feel like we are in a pretty good spot," said head coach Ria Scott. "The team is looking to capatalize on more birdie opportunities tomorrow."

Santoso shot a six-over, 78, in the opening round.
