BREMERTON, Wash. – The University of Oregon men’s golf team wrapped up its first day at the Kikkor Golf Husky Invitational tied for fifth (292-288-580) shooting four-over par on the Olympic Course at the Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash. Monday evening. Ryann Ree carded a 141 (-3) to tie for third on the day to lead the Ducks.

The host, Washington, had a solid outing with an 11-under par (279-286-565) score while Cheng-Tsung Pan of the Huskies led the players leaderboard (68-70-138 (-6)). The University of San Diego (284-291-575 (-1)) was the only other team shooting under-par through two rounds on the par-72/7,124 yard course.

“Ryann was a real bright spot, he played beautifully today and if that continues he will really help his team,” said head coach Casey Martin.

Jonathan Woo was able to get a better look on the latter half of the front nine in the second round and carded a 147 (+3) on the day. Teammate Zach Foushee (74-74-148) was right behind Woo shooting four-over. Rak Cho (76-74-150 (+6)) had a better Round 2 to end the day tied for 47th.

Thomas Lim had a great start to his career,” said Martin regarding the freshman’s seven-under par performance today in his Oregon debut to lead the individual field. "I probably made a big mistake not playing him on the main team but he will play plenty for us in the future,” said Martin.

Sophomore Brandon McIver (73-69-142 (E)) also placed in the top-10 in the individual field for the Ducks, tying for fourth.

“I thought the team competed hard but we weren’t real sharp today,” said Martin regarding the Duck’s play today. “Too many mistakes took us out of contention, we’ll need to have a good round tomorrow to get the year started off positively.”

The Ducks look to finish strong tomorrow with a tee-time of 8:15 a.m. for the final round of the invitational.
