EUGENE, Ore. -- The University of Oregon acrobatics and tumbling team has released its 2014 schedule, head coach Felecia Mulkey announced Wednesday. The Ducks will play seven regular season events before the NCATA National Championship, including three home events at Matthew Knight Arena.
“We have a great schedule this season, and we’re excited for it,” said Mulkey, who enters her fifth season as head coach. “We’ll start at home and close on the road, we’ll see some new first-year programs and we’ll meet teams coached by Oregon graduates. There are a number of reasons to be excited about the schedule.”
Oregon’s quest for a fourth-straight national championship begins with three straight home events, opening with a Feb. 13 meeting with Baylor. Start time is set for 7 p.m. (PT) inside Matthew Knight Arena.
The Ducks host a pair of triangulars before closing the season on the road. Mulkey and the Ducks host Quinnipiac and Azusa Pacific on March 10 at 7 p.m. Oregon returns to action the following week, hosting a pair of first-year programs coached by Oregon graduates.
The Ducks host Alderson-Broaddus and Hawai’i Pacific on Sunday, March 16, at 12 p.m. Alderson-Broaddus is coached by Jacquie Svadeba, who was a member of Oregon’s inaugural team. Hawai’i Pacific will be coached by Keenyn Won, who competed for the Ducks from 2010-12 and was a part of two Duck national championship teams.
Oregon then travels to Fairmont State (March 24), Alderson-Broaddus (March 25), Baylor (March 29) and Azusa Pacific (April 7).
The NCATA National Championship will be held in Azusa, Calif., from April 25-27.
