EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon women’s lacrosse head coach Jen Beck announced the release of the 2014 schedule Thursday afternoon. Along with the schedule release, the Ducks will also be wrapping up their exhibition schedule this weekend on the Eastern Seaboard.
Before diving into the schedule, UO will invade Fairfax, Va., this weekend as the Ducks partake in the George Mason Tournament all day Saturday, Oct. 19, followed by a scrimmage with George Washington, Sunday morning (Oct. 20).
The field for Saturday’s tournament include: George Mason, Presbyterian, James Madison, and Liberty.
Before heading back to Eugene, UO will play George Washington in a scrimmage at 9 a.m. (EDT).
Nine Ducks will be in familiar territory when Oregon lands in Virginia. UO’s roster boasts 18 players from the East Coast while 11 of the 18 are from Maryland.
The 2014 schedule includes a quartet of first-time opponents in Stetson, Coastal Carolina, Robert Morris and Ohio State. The Ducks will also see some familiar teams in Temple, Cincinnati and Connecticut for their nonconference slate before beginning conference play.
Oregon flies to DeLand, Fla., for its season opener against Stetson on Feb. 9th and then heads to Jacksonville, Fla., for a battle with Coastal Carolina on Feb. 11.
The Ducks take a two-week break before heading to The City of Brotherly Love for a bout against the Owls of Temple on March 1st. The team then drives west to conclude its four-game road swing for a match versus Robert Morris.
Oregon then returns home for a pair of matches at Papé Field hosting UConn and Fresno State. The Ducks face the Huskies first on Friday, March 14, at 4 p.m. for its first home game of the year followed by a 2 p.m. match against the Bulldogs on Saturday, March 15.
Once again the Ducks hit the road for a pair of matches in Ohio against Ohio State and Cincinnati on March 26 and 30 respectively.
Oregon finally kicks off conference play in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation at California on Apr. 4 at 7 p.m. UO then wraps up its stay in the bay with a match versus. St. Mary’s on Apr. 6 at noon. The Ducks continue league play as they entertain Stanford (Apr. 11) and UC Davis (Apr. 13). Lacrosse returns to the Golden State once again, Apr. 18 and 20, but this time around will be in southern California playing USC and San Diego State respectively.
The Ducks then return home for their final two matches of the regular season starting with Denver, last year’s MPSF Tournament Champion, on Apr. 25 at 5 p.m.
Oregon will then conclude league play with its senior game against Colorado two days later on Apr. 27 at noon. This is CU’s inaugural season sponsoring lacrosse as a sport.
The MPSF Championship Tournament this year will be held in Denver, Colo., May 1-4. The quarterfinals will take place on May 1 and the semifinals will be held the following day on May 2. The championship match will be on May 4, at 11 a.m. (MST), at the Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium.
