Oregon Cards a 293 at Stanford Intercollegiate

STANFORD, Calif. -- The 33rd-ranked University of Oregon women’s golf team carded a 293 (+9) Saturday and is sixth on the leaderboard at the Stanford Intercollegiate entering tomorrow’s final round.  In a field consisting of 13 teams ranked in the top 50, Oregon remained within striking distance despite counting four scores over par today at the Stanford University Golf Course.

Oregon is currently at 8-over on the tournament with a 36-hole total of 576 after a 1-under opening round Friday. Head coach Ria Scott’s squad has been led by freshman Cathleen Santoso, who carded another solid round and is tied for 18th individually. The Ducks are currently leading five teams ranked ahead of them in the GolfStat rankings. Oregon had its streak of 10 straight rounds in the top five of the team leaderboard snapped.

Second-ranked USC leads the tournament with a two-round tally of 548 (-20), followed by No. 1 UCLA (556/-12), No. 19 Washington (566/-2), No. 9 Stanford (568/E), No. 12 Pepperdine (569/+1) and the Ducks.

Santoso is even par through two rounds (142) and 18th in the 90 player field. Santoso made an impressive rally to close her second round at 2-over (73). She fell to 4-over on the front side but made two birdies and seven pars on the back nine to get two strokes back. The Sydney, Australia, native is pursuing a fourth straight top 20 individual finish this fall.

Juniors Cali Hipp and Cassy Isagawa are both 2-over (144) through two rounds and are tied for 28th.

Hipp carded a 75 (+4) today after opening with a 69 (-2) on Friday. The Caldwell, Idaho, native made 12 pars in her second round and made a birdie on the par-four fifth hole.

Isagawa shot a 2-over, 73, with a team-high 14 pars in another steady round from the two-time All-Pac-12 selection. She also made a birdie on the par-five 16th hole.

Sophomore Caroline Inglis improved to 41st on the leaderboard after shooting a 2-over (73) today. She sits at 5-over for the tournament with a 36-hole total of 147. After opening her round with back-to-back bogeys, she responded with consecutive birdies on holes No. 7 and 8 to shoot an even par 35 on the front nine. The local product went 2-over (38) on the backside with two birdies and four pars.

 Freshman Marcella Pranovia shaved eight strokes off her opening round with a 74 (+3) today and provided the Ducks with a counting score. Pranovia is 80th in the field with a two-round tally of 156. She made four birdies and eight pars today.
