Oregon Head Coach Dana Altman

Opening Statement…
“I thought our ball movement offensively wasn’t too bad. We popped it around pretty good and made shots for each other. I thought offensively we did some really good things. Elgin Cook really helped us, he made some tough shots and was really active on the boards. I thought he was a difference maker. Offensively, I have a lot less concerns than I do defensively and on the boards. We have to be more fundamentally sound. The communication on our defense has to really improve. We have a lot of new guys and they’re not helping each other out or playing as a unit. That’s my job to get them to do that, and right now I’m not doing a very good job.”

On Damyean Dotson
“He hit a couple shots which got his head up defensively. I thought he could have played a lot better but it was nice to see him get some shots down, which improved his energy.”

On being in position…
“We’re way out of position on a lot of plays. The effort is there, we’re just not in the right position and not communicating. They’re playing hard and trying to get there, we just have a tremendous amount of work to do.”

On Johnathan Loyd
“He’s really tough. He had a couple tough fouls in the beginning which really took him out of the game, and our ball movement isn’t as good without him in there.”

#21, G, Damyean Dotson

On his role amoungst the team...
“I just have to find a part for myself on the team. I need to stay on the court instead of forcing shots.”

On the number of scorers on the team…
“Last year we had four people scoring in double digits. This year, if we run, everyone will score. It does feel new having so many scorers but if we just get out on the wings and attack then everyone will get some points.”

On #23 Elgin Cook
“He goes hard everyday in practice. We all know he can score and defend. He also grabs so many rebounds.”

 #0, F, Mike Moser

On #23 Elgin Cook
“The way he can defend and rebound, he brings a whole other dimension to the team. We see his ability to score everyday in practice. He creates for others. Considering all he has been through it is impressive how good of a job he is doing.”

Head coach Rex Walters

 Opening statement…
“I thought our guys played hard. They’re (Oregon) a very good team and you have to tip your hat to them. I’m disappointed with our paint protection and transition defense. We didn’t shoot the ball well. I don’t think our commitment to paint touches was nearly what it needed to be. Our guys played really hard, but I just have to do a better job.”

On how Oregon pulled away in the 2nd half…
"At a certain point, you have to make a decision; are you playing to keep it close or are you playing to win? We started trapping and pressing, and were playing to win. It turned into a transition game. Oregon got run outs, open threes and extended our defense when we were trying to create turnovers."

On San Francisco’s shot selection…
“Our guys battled. The effort was there. I just need to get the guys to do what we ask of them. I was more disappointed with that than anything else. At the end of the game, I wanted to attack the basket but we settled for threes. We didn’t seem to fully buy into that, and that’s what it takes to play in these types of environments against a tough team like this. We were right there on the verge. We let it get away from us a little bit at the end.”
