Head Coach Scott Rueck
On Ruth Hamblin’s growth as a player…
“We’ve seen a lot of growths since right around Christmas. When we came back from the break, there was a different mentality. We saw glimpses against Clemson in the Las Vegas tournament of what Ruth could do. We simplified the game a little bit for her, which I think helped. When somebody has a work ethic at the highest level like Ruth does, they want it that bad and they work that hard, it just inevitable to just win. I think she’s finding her niche at this level now.”

On team improvements…
“That’s what I’ve done my entire career is putting shooters around posts. We’re getting there. This is such a young team. We’re figuring out the best ways to do that. Today we had that going. Sydney and Jamie (Weisner)—they’re elite the way they shoot the ball and fortunately we found them.  I thought we passed the ball very well tonight.”

What they’ll do to prepare for Monday…
“Taking care of the basketball. We don’t want to have to count on making 12 threes to win on Monday. Twenty turnovers is too many, even against the press that they use. That decreased of course as the game went, but that number needs to be lower to give ourselves a great shot.

Ruth Hamblin
On her growth…
“Definitely Notre Dame coming in, I realized how big of a time this opportunity was, every game, every night on the floor. I just want to be able to take advantage of each night.”

Sydney Wiese
On Ruth Hamblin big game…
She definitely impacted the game and she’s so close to the rim every shot so just put it up there and she did that. Very thankful she had a big game and looking forward to Monday again. Oregon did a great job defending us. They fought really hard, but coming into Monday’s game it’s going to be another battle so we have to be ready.

On the their team…
“It’s pretty tough to defend Jamie and myself. If you take away one of us, the other is going to shoot. If you take both of us away, then Ruth is down low. We have a lot of options on offense and it’s pretty tough to stop all five.”
