WAIKOLOA, Hawaii – A solid effort by the Oregon men’s golf team on Friday at the Amer Ari Invitational with a season-best low round at 14-under par behind Brandon McIvers 67 (-5). The sophomore continued to play well after storming back in the back-nine yesterday to lead Oregon with a five-under par in round two.

“I just tried to carry over my momentum and confidence gained from my finish yesterday,” said McIver. “I hit it really well today. I think the adjustment for me was just relaxing, being in the moment and believing in myself while enjoying moment as well.”

The Ducks flew into second play behind No. 3 Oklahoma State after a combined score of 274 (-14) today. Their score of 14-under par round today is tied for fifth all-time at Oregon for a team low-round.

“We had a good day today,” said head coach Casey Martin. “The conditions are good and so the challenge is being mentally ready to make a lot of birdies. The guys got into a nice groove early and we were able to sustain it. Big round for us tomorrow. We need to finish it.”

Thomas Lim continued his stellar performance at the tournament firing in a 69 (-3) today and is in a three-way tie for second at 11-under par with UCLA’s Lorens Chan and USC’s Jeffrey Kang. Cameron Wilson of Stanford vault to the top spot on the individual leaderboard thanks a 7-under card today, putting him at 12-under through the two rounds.

Sulman Raza and Zach Foushee both improved on yesterday’s score with both players shooting a 69 (-3). Ryan Ree had a quiet day, shooting even par after going birdie-bogey on the 13th and 14th hole.

Oklahoma State still leads the pack after firing in a 277 on the day and is at 28-under through two rounds. The third-ranked Cowboys however are only two strokes ahead of the Ducks and four strokes ahead of Washington.  OSU was led by Talor Gooch who carded a 66 (-6) today.

The Ducks head back to the King’s Course Saturday morning for the final round of the Amer Ari Invitational at 7:30 a.m. (PST).
