MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Oregon women’s tennis team dropped its fourth-straight match on the road Sunday morning at the Baseline Tennis Center to Minnesota, 6-1. The Ducks’ lone win came at the No. 1 singles slot from Nicole Long who rallied back in the second set to force a tiebreaker and the eventual win.

Lana Buttner and Sofia Hager continued their winning ways earning their sixth-straight doubles match in dual play Sunday. The senior-junior combo for Oregon made quick work of the Gophers’ pair of Lambert/Rincon Otero, with an 8-2 win at No. 3 singles.

Long and Jasmine Minor wasn’t able to seal the doubles point for Oregon after taking the 6-4 lead at No. 1 doubles, and fell in the tiebreaker 8-7 (2). Marlou Kluiving and Lina Åkesson were dealt the same fate as Long/Minor at No. 2 doubles, falling 8-7 (3) in a tiebreaker.

In the first set, Long and Tereza Brichacova went back-and-forth until Brichacova prevailed 7-6 (4). The junior was no stranger to playing down in the second set as she battled to take the 7-5 win forcing a tiebreaker and came out on top 6-7 (4), 7-5, 1-0 (5).

After winning the first set 6-4, Kluiving wasn’t able to hold off Minnesota’s Jessika Mozia and lost in the tiebreaker 4-6, 7-6 (1), 1-0 (5) at No. 3 singles.

Minor couldn’t get past Natallia Pintusava at No. 2 singles and fell 6-3, 6-4. Hager, who entered this weekend’s matches 5-1, dropped her second-straight match to Julia Courter 7-5, 6-2. Buttner tried to force a tiebreaker against Paula Rincon Otero at the No. 5 singles slot but wasn’t successful and fell 6-3, 7-5. Åkesson suffered the same fate and fell 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6 singles to Aria Lambert.

The Ducks return to the Student Tennis Center on Saturday, Feb. 22, 4 p.m. to host Akron before beginning Pac-12 Conference play.
