PALM DESERT, Calif. – The Oregon men’s golf team wrapped up its first round at the Wyoming Cowboy Desert Intercollegiate in second behind conference-foe Colorado on Friday at the Classic Club Course. The Ducks were led by Thomas Lim, who fired in a 5-under card, and Brandon McIver who carded a 4-under. Oregon posted a 276 score on the day at 12-under par thanks to Lim who finished in second and McIver who is in a tie for third.

“We played well today,” head coach Casey Martin said. “We hit the ball particularly well. We’ll need to make a few more putts to track down Colorado, but all in all I am happy. It was a good day.”

Colorado is leading the pack with a 272 (-16) card to stay ahead of UO by four strokes. In-state rival Oregon State is in third behind the Ducks with a 283 (-5) card, trailing by seven strokes. UT Arlington and Santa Clara are tied for fourth to round out the top five at 4-under.

The Buffs’ Yannik Paul is also ahead on the individual leaderboard with a score of 66 (-6) ahead of Lim and McIver by one stroke.

Sulman Raza rebounded quickly from his performance last tournament, firing a 70 (-2) on the day and sits in a tie for 13th.

Ryann Ree stayed in the hunt on the individual leaderboard, carding a 71 (-1) and sits in a tie for 23rd. Zach Foushee didn’t get off to the start he wanted to, posting a 74 (+2) card.
