PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – A late charge by Oregon behind Courtney Valdez and Shannon Propst falls short as the Ducks fell to Temple, 10-8, Saturday afternoon at Geasey Field. Valdez led UO with 4 goals while Propst chipped in with three and Olivia Pyne with one goal.
The Ducks struck first, 49 seconds into the match via Propst from Carly O’Connell, but Temple answered right back with three-straight goals to take the 3-1 lead before back-to-back goals from Valdez and Propst tied things at 4-4 with 3:18 remaining in the half.
The Owls’ Kathryn Skahan however gave Temple the 5-4 lead heading into the break with a goal with one second left to play.
Valdez made it 5-5 at the 28:18 mark in the second half before the Owls posted four-straight goals to go up 9-5.
Pyne started the Oregon rally with a goal at 2:41. Propst and Valdez followed suit with goals of their own to bring the Ducks within one, 9-8, but a late goal from Temple with 24 seconds left on the clock sealed the win.
Temple’s Jaymie Tabor scored a game-high six goals to lift the Owls past Oregon.
Caroline Federighi recorded nine saves for UO in the loss while Valdez and Propst each had four points.
The Ducks return to action on Monday at 9 a.m. (PST) to wrap up their road trip at Robert Morris.
