SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Oregon track and field team was represented by Alec Fellows and Blake Kemp in the decathlon at the first day of the Aztec Invitational, Thursday, with Fellows sitting second and Kemp in third after five events.
Fellows set three personal bests and finished second in four of the day’s five events. The sophomore started with a PR in the 100 with a time of 11.11, then finished the day strong with lifetime bests in the high jump (6-7, 2.01m) and the 400 (49.32). He will enter the second day with 3,792 points.
Kemp highlighted the day as the top finisher in the shot put with a distance of 42-4 (12.90m). He will start the second day with 3,576 points.
Competition will resume, Friday at 8:30 a.m.
