EUGENE – Playing in its outdoor courts the first time all season, the Oregon women’s tennis team took on No. 7 Stanford. The Cardinal however outmatched the Ducks, claiming the, 4-0, victory Friday afternoon.

Stanford’s roster went from all six singles players playing being ranked to just five after No. 4 Kristie Ahn was scratched from the No. 1 singles slot, bumping everyone up one spot. Lindsey Kostas was inserted into the Cardinal line up at No. 6 singles.

The seventh-ranked Cardinal showed why they were the seventh-ranked team in the nation, winning both doubles matches 8-1 within minutes of one another. Jasmine Minor and Lina Åkesson fell first at doubles No. 2 before Allie Hueffner and Kadie Hueffner fell to Caroline Doyle and Krista Hardebeck at No. 3 doubles.

Facing the No. 31 doubles pair in the nation, Nicole Long and Sofia Hager weren’t able to rally back like they did against Washington, and was trailing 7-1 when their match was abandoned.

Lana Buttner played a much better in the second set against the 41st-ranked Doyle at No. 5 singles but eventually fell 6-0, 6-4. Carol Zaho pushed Stanford’s lead to 3-1 after she ousted Minor in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1. Davidson, who is the 28th-ranked singles player, clinched the victory for the Cardinal after she defeated Hager 6-0, 6-2.

The Ducks now prepare for No. 6 California on Sunday, April 13, at noon. Oregon will also be honoring its three seniors, Rabea Stueckemann, Lena Macomson and Buttner, prior to Sunday’s match.
