EUGENE, Ore. – Senior right-handed pitcher Jeff Gold and freshman shortstop Mark Karaviotis have been named to watch lists at their respective positions. Gold is one of 47 pitchers on the National Pitcher of the Year list, while Karaviotis is one of just 35 shortstops named to the Brooks Wallace Award list.

Gold is 9-0 with a 2.45 ERA and has struck out 45 batters in 67.1 innings pitched while walking just five. He has given up 19 earned runs on 51 hits and has held opposing hitters to a .213 batting average. Gold is second in the country in wins, while also ranking eighth in walks allowed per nine innings (0.67) and strikeout-to-walk ratio (9.0), as well as 12th in WHIP (0.83). The Ducks’ righty, who needs just one win to tie the Oregon career record with 23 victories, also ranks among the Pac-12 leaders in wins (1st), inning pitched (6th), opposing batting average (6th), and ERA (11th).

Karaviotis is one of just two Pac-12 shortstops named to the Brooks Wallace Award list. He has started 31 straight games heading into tonight’s series opener at Oregon State and has a .970 fielding percentage with just four errors in 134 chances. The freshman from Maui is batting .263 with 15 RBI, two doubles and two triples. He leads Oregon with nine sacrifice bunts.
