EUGENE, Ore. - After an outstanding 2014 season, the Oregon softball coaches were named the NFCA Pacific Region Coaching Staff of the Year for the second straight time.

Head coach Mike White and assistant coach Chelsea Spencer were on the staff that was given the same honor last year while assistant coach Jimmy Kolaitis, volunteer assistant coach Mike Roberts and director of operations Megan Murphy are first-time winners.

The NFCA named the Kentucky coaches their national staff of the year while also awarding winners in 10 regions. Oregon's staff joins Oklahoma, Michigan and Nebraska as the only back-to-back honorees.

Oregon's coaches certainly deserved the honor after the Ducks' amazing 2014 campaign.

Oregon claimed its first No. 1 ranking this season as the Ducks won a program-record 56 games (56-9-1 overall). Oregon won its second straight Pac-12 title and advanced to the Women's College World Series for the third time ever. The Ducks swept five Pac-12 teams and did not lose a conference series all season. After taking 2-of-3 from then-No. 1 ranked UCLA, the Ducks took over the top spot for the final six weeks of the regular season before finishing ranked No. 3 in the country after going 2-2 in four games at the WCWS. Oregon beat Florida State and Oklahoma in the WCWS and lost to eventual finalists Florida and Alabama.

Besides the single-season wins record, White and the Ducks shattered numerous other records in 2014. Oregon scored more runs (445), posted more RBIs (394), tallied more hits (604), hit for a higher average (.342), hit for a higher slugging percentage (.518) and had fewer errors (50) than any other team in program history. The Ducks also posted a single-season record 20 triples and were seven walks (230) away from breaking that record (236) as well. In the circle, Oregon's pitchers were three strikeouts (468) away from breaking the UO single-season mark (470).
