The rollout of preseason award watch lists concluded Friday with UO quarterback Marcus Mariota and cornerback Ifo Ekpre-Olomu each adding to already impressive lists of accolades.

Mariota and Ekpre-Olomu, each of whom returned to school despite being considered top NFL draft prospects, were named Friday to the watch list for the Walter Camp Football Foundation’s player of the year award. The winner will be announced in December following a vote of all FBS head coaches and sports information directors.

Ekpre-Olomu was a second-team all-American according to the WCFF last season. Mariota was also a preseason nominee for the Walter Camp Award in 2013.

Friday’s nominations brought Ekpre-Olomu’s total over the last two weeks to four preseason watch lists. He is up for the Bednarik and Nagurski defensive player of the year awards and the Thorpe Award as the nation’s best defensive back, along with the Walter Camp award.

Mariota drew three preseason nominations, for the Maxwell and Walter Camp player of the year awards, and the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award.

Center Hroniss Grasu (Rimington, Outland, Lombardi) and linebacker Derrick Malone (Nagurski, Butkus, Lombardi) also were listed on three preseason award watch lists over the past two weeks.
