Mark Hudson is in his 12th season with the University of Oregon men's basketball program.

He has been a part of 211 UO wins, five NCAA tournament appearances and two NIT final fours.

Hudson helped retool the offense and defense that produced the memorable 2006-07 season when Oregon went 29-8 in winning the Pac-10 tournament and advancing to the NCAA Elite Eight.

Hudson also played a vital role in the 2002 season that saw the Ducks win their first outright Pac-10 title in 63 years and advance to the NCAA Elite Eight.

Hudson was Oregon’s Director for Basketball Operations from 2001-05, a position he held following his first stint as an assistant for the Ducks from 1998-01.

Hudson, 39, began his association with Ernie Kent as the restricted earnings coach at Saint Mary’s during the 1996-97 season. In addition to his coaching duties at the Moraga, Calif., school, Hudson’s responsibilities included film/video exchange, summer camps, team travel, and monitoring the academic progress of the basketball team.

Prior to his hiring at Saint Mary’s, Hudson was an assistant coach for two seasons at Solano Community College in Suisun City, Calif.  His primary responsibilities at SCC revolved around post player development, opponent scouting, evaluating and recruiting high school student-athletes, and designing the team’s media guides and game programs.

As an assistant coach at William Rainey Harper College in Palatine, Ill., a position he held from May 1992 through August 1994, Hudson worked as the assistant director of the school’s summer basketball camp and the Summer High School Basketball League in 1992 and 1993.

The Nitro, W.Va., native earned a degree in history from Northwestern in 1992 and was the program assistant/team manager for the Wildcats for two seasons. As a member of the Northwestern program, he assisted the coaching staff with on-campus recruiting, directed the team film/video exchange program and supervised a seven-person managerial staff. Hudson then went on to earn his master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Loyola of Chicago in 1994.

Born Feb. 21, 1969, Hudson married the former Jill Walker during the summer of 2001. The couple have a daughter, Hanna (8-12-04) and a son, Jack (9-18-06).

A skilled fisherman, Hudson can often be found plying the rivers of Oregon for salmon, trout and steelhead.
