New opportunity tonight
Wednesday, December 3, 1:15 pm. PT
As I filled out the date above, I realized that it has been a full week since I last blogged. My apologies and a thank you to all the fans (and some critics) who have written to share their thoughts. Time has flown since we played Texas (no internet access made it difficult to write about. It was a disappointing game, as we felt like we could have beat a top 10 team and did not perform).
Since returning, we have returned to the practice court with a feeling of tremendous optimism for the year. Though our record is just 3-3, we have seen steady improvement and the experience of the Maui Invitational should motivate us. Tonight is a tough test in Utah, a team who returns all of their starters from a year ago. Led by 7'2" Luke Nevill, the Utes have experience on their side. We beat them last year at the Pape Jam, but expect a tough challenge at the Huntsman Center.
We will be playing without two of our big men tonight, as Michael Dunigan (who has been performing great so far) is out with a hyperextended elbow. Frantz Dorsainvil is also out with a hand injury. This, combined with the altitude (the players noticed right away), should make for a lot of substitutions and playing time for everyone. Tell you what, I will let you know in a little while..........
