Jennings Stewart Moving to Linebacker
Tuesday, March 17, 5:00 p.m. PT

When spring drills begin on March 30, redshirt freshman Jennings Stewart will be wearing a green practice jersey, signifying his status as a defensive player. Oregon's offensive scout team award winner from 2008 is making the move from tight end to linebacker.

Stewart, who was 6-3, 200 pounds at the start of his rookie campaign, has demonstrated good strength and speed for his size and should be in line to battle for special teams duty this season.

A product of Grants Pass High, Stewart played football at GP under head coach and former Duck quarterback Tom Blanchard (1967-70).

IN OTHER NEWS...

  • Defensive tackle Hayden Piper has left the team. Piper, who would have been a redshirt junior, did not appear in any games the past two seasons.
  • Redshirt freshman Dion Jordan, who was listed as a tight end in high school during his recruitment, is officially back at that position heading into spring ball. The 6-7 Jordan, who battled injury throughout his redshirt season, practiced at wide reciever for the better part of 2008.
