Halfway Home
Wednesday, April 15, 5:00 p.m. PT

Today's morning workout inside the Moshofsky Center was Oregon's eighth of 15 allowed practices this spring, pushing the Ducks past the midpoint with two and one-half weeks to go before the annual Spring Game. The players appear to have completely adapted to the uptempo pace and as a group appear much more in sync than they did this time a year ago.

The Ducks next practice Saturday, when they will go from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the first afternoon session this spring. The end of Saturday's workout will also feature the team's first of three (including the Spring Game) scrimmages.

The ESPN show Jim Rome is Burning will be in town on Monday to do a piece on the Ducks and will feature head coach Chip Kelly in a correspondent role. On Thursday, Kelly will grace the sports network's airwaves on College Football Live. The weeklong theme on CFL is "newcomers," so Kelly will discuss players that are battling to fill the starting spots vacated by last year's seniors.

The Hawaii Bowl has dropped the Pac-10 from its 2009 game, opting instead for a team from Conference USA to take on a WAC opponent (most likely Hawaii). One reason for the change is likely due to the fact that the Pac-10 only had six bowl eligible teams in '08 and the Hawaii Bowl was set up to receive the No. 7 conference team ... The Las Vegas Bowl has a new sponsor and will now be known as the Maaco Bowl Las Vegas. The MBLV will have a new date in '09 (Tuesday, Dec. 22) and will continue to host either the No. 4 or 5 team from the Pac-10.

The most recent spring roster can be found here.
