Walker's Pace: Great Weather, Live Interactive Blog Return for NCAA West Regional
Thursday, May 28, 7:00 p.m. PDT
Back by popular demand, the Pace is proud to announce that we will once again offer a live, interactive blog for the NCAA West Regional meet, just like we did for the Pac-10 championships. With little or no promotion, nearly 1,000 folks joined Joe Waltasti, our ace Media Services intern, live during the Pac-10 meet two weeks ago. So keep peppering the young man with your questions and comments. Click here for the link to Joe's live interactive chat. Look for the site to be up and running shortly after events get underway at tomorrow's NCAA West Regional which begins at 2:40 with the men's javelin.
And speaking of back by popular demand, Bobby Corser, president of the American Meterological Society, Portland Chapter, serves up yet another tasty forecast:
All Oregon fans know
it never rains at Autzen stadium. This year, I think the weather gods
moved slightly to the south, because the weather at Hayward Field has been just
awesome. That trend will continue Friday and Saturday as the NCAA West Regional
Championships kick off. Friday brings warm conditions as the temperature
will be pushing the upper 80's. It will be much hotter on the track
surface. Winds will be from the North/Northwest and will be generally
light in the morning and will pick up in the afternoon. The warm air will
be slow to cool off after the sun starts to set. Saturday will be an
almost identical day, with temperatures a few degrees cooler. The winds
will be again from the North/Northwest. Come cheer on Oregon and say
goodbye to some great seniors. Galen Rupp and Rachel Yurkovich will be
making their final appearences as Ducks. We thank them for everything
they've done for Oregon! Go Ducks!
