Assuming newsstands still exist, college football preview magazines should be hitting them shortly if they haven't already, based on today's release of Phil Steele's Preseason All-America and All-Conference teams.
In the latter category, nine Ducks are listed among four teams, including second-team cornerback Walter Thurmond III, who is the squad's lone representative on the All-America list as a fourth-team choice.
Here's the breakdown:
Phil Steele's 2009 Preseason All-Pac-10 Team
1st Team: QB Jeremiah Masoli, SS T.J. Ward
2nd Team: RB LeGarrette Blount, TE Ed Dickson, DL Will Tukuafu, CB Walter Thurmond III*
3rd Team: LB Spencer Paysinger, LB Casey Matthews
4th Team: WR Jamere Holland
*4th Team All-America
UCLA and USC placed five players apiece on the first team, including specialists. Arizona State, California and Oregon State were next with three each, and Arizona, Stanford and Oregon each contributed a pair. Washington had one representative, while Washington State was shutout.
Boise State's Kyle Wilson is paired with Thurmond at cornerback on Steele's fourth-team preseason All-America chart. Four of the first-team All-America spots belong to Oregon's 2008 Holiday Bowl opponent Oklahoma State: RB Kendall Hunter, WR and PR Dez Bryant and OT Russell Okung.
