FAIRFAX, Calif. – Oregon shot a 296 to hold on to seventh place following Tuesday’s final round of the Alister MacKenzie Invitational, played at the par-71, 6,606-yard Meadow Club.

Joey Benedetti struggled with a final round 74, but still tied for eighth overall at 3-under 210. It was the second straight top-eight finish for the junior from Huntington Beach, Calif., who tied for sixth at last week’s Northwest Collegiate Classic.

California was 5-under Tuesday and won the tournament with a three-round score of 26-under 826. San Jose State was second at 842, followed by Oregon State (848) and Fresno State (853).

UC Davis and UC Irvine were tied for fifth at 857, with Oregon seventh at 862, Santa Clara eighth at 863, Washington State ninth at 864 and Penn State 10th at 865.

Cal’s Michael Wilson shot a 70 Tuesday to win individual medalist honors by two strokes. Wilson finished at 11-under 202, two shots better than San Jose State’s Stephan Stallworth and three better than Oregon State’s Mitch Gillis and Diego Velasquez.

Other individual finishers for Oregon included senior Matt Ma, who shot a final round 71 and tied for 25th at 3-over 216, and juniors Derek Sipe and Zeke Reyna, who tied for 35th at 218.

The Ducks’ busy October continues next Monday and Tuesday at The Prestige at PGA West in La Quinta, Calif.
